The GEM Project, funded by a $5-million grant from the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, is a nation-wide clinical study attempting to identify the causes of Crohn’s disease. The study is recruiting 5000 full biological siblings of patients with Crohn’s disease to answer questions about their diet and environment and provide a blood sample, a stool sample, and a urine sample. Siblings must be between 6 and 35 years old and must not have inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease or diabetes.
